How to configure Amazon S3 as an external storage

In order to configure Amazon S3 as an external storage, you need to have S3 access key and secret key. If you have a corporate S3 account, your admins can help you with that information.

If you want to generate an access key & secret key, then please click here.

Once you have the access key and secret key, please follow the below steps to setup Amazon – S3 in XFilesPro.

  • Launch XfilesPro app in your org.
  • Click on Storage Setup > Amazon S3. You will see the below screen – 
  • Provider Name: Enter any name in this field.
  • Provider Access Key: Enter your Amazon S3 access key in this field.
  • Provider Access Secret Key:Enter your Amazon S3 secret key in this field.
  • Click on VALIDATE.
  • Once the system validates your access key and secret key, your screen will look like the below one

 

  • When you click on Validate, it will prompt you to select you a bucket from your S3. Select a new bucket.
  • After selecting a new bucket, you will be prompted to select an object where you want our external storage to be configured. Select one or more objects from the drop-down.
  • Please select a bucket & an object/multiple objects that you want to configure S3 with.
  • Click on SUBMIT
Please note – You can pick multiple objects and configure the same external storage on multiple objects.
  • Click on SUBMIT and your S3 is now configured as an external storage.
  • You can now use Amazon – S3 as your external storage.

 

If you are opening the configured object in Classic view, then you need to make certain customizations like adding a new VF page & inserting it in the object page layout. Know more about it.
